A rare edition with all the hundreds of place names and information nicely readable and in its time of the mid Georgian era offering probably the most detailed plan of Middlesex available. This exqusitevely engraved map is typical of Rocque’s skill as a cartographer. The map covers a wide area, Charlfont St Peters, Colnbrook and Sheperton to the West and Waltham Abbey, the Enfield Marshes and Woolwhich to the East.
Worthy of note to the top right corner of the map, there is text providing information on the extent of Middlesex and London which according to Rocque’s measurements, show the length of London to be some six and a half miles, while the breadth is two and a half miles whilst the circumference of London is eight and a half miles or 5455 acres.
